User

A User is a person who uses TariffShark software to perform a tariff-related function or to administer the software. All Users are required to authenticate (log in) to gain access to the software.

To authorize the functions to which a User has access, TariffShark uses role-based access control:

• Security Role: Describes a group of TariffShark commands for the purposes of setting up application security
• Role Assignment: A User can execute TariffShark command only if it has been assigned to a Security Role
• Role Authorization: A User must be assigned to one or more Security Roles. When assigning a User to a Security Role, the assignment can allow a User to play the role for all Companies, only a specific Company, or only a specific Tariff Database within a specific Company.

For each User TariffShark maintains an associated user profile, that consists of:

• Unique username
• Password
  • Password is initially generated and emailed to end user per application server's settings
  • User has the option to change the password by using the Update Profile command
• Unique and valid email address
• List of assigned Security Roles
