TariffShark Tiger User Guide
Not your version?Publishing
Defined
Publishing is the process by which the content of multiple TRVs are brought together into a single file. While Publishing can be used to combine unrelated or distantly related TRVs, it's most useful when used on large Tariffs that have been decomposed into multiple Tariff Records. As with gas industry Open Access Tariffs and electric industry Open Access Transmission Tariffs, large Tariffs are managed in smaller pieces (Tariff Records) and Publishing can be thought of as a process by which the smaller pieces are combined back into a whole.
New in TariffShark Tiger, publishing is also the process whereby multiple FERC Attachments are brought together into a single PDF file.
TariffShark provides for the publishing of Tariffs, Filings, and TRV Sets.
TRV Publishing
Overview
- The TRV content published can be either the TRV's marked or clean content
- The publishing result can be either a PDF or a Microsoft Word document
- Publishing can be done in a page-based fashion where every TRV starts on a new page. Alternately, Custom Publishing provides a means for combining TRV content with minimal white space between them such that multiple TRVs' content can be published onto the same page.
- Not all Tariff Record Versions are eligible for publishing. Depending on the options selected, TRVs that cannot be published will be shown as such and TariffShark will provide one of the following reasons:
- This TRV has no content.
- Whole Document TRVs do not have Marked content.
- Whole Document TRVs do not participate in Custom publishing.
- This TRV's Whole Document content is not in a compatible format.
- TRVs without Document Layouts do not participate in page-based publishing in Microsoft Word format.
- TRVs without Document Layouts do not participate in Custom publishing.
- This TRV has no Marked content.
Page-Based Publishing
- The final published document ...
- may omit each TRV's designated Document Layout, Header Template, and Footer Template
- may include each TRV's designated Document Layouts, Header Template, and Footer Template
- may include alternate Document Layouts, Header Templates, and Footer Templates
- The final published document may optionally include a clickable Table of Contents
- The final published document may optionally include a clickable Index
- When publishing in PDF format, the final published document may include PDF bookmarks
- When publishing in PDF format, the final published document will include hyperlink tags if they are defined for the TRVs being published
Custom Publishing
- Publishing Template
- Custom Publishing requires a Publishing Template, which is a Microsoft Word document, into which TRV content is combined.
- A Publishing Template may include symbols, which are placeholders for TariffShark data fields that get replaced with data field values during publishing.
- The text
##content##
within the Publishing Template tells TariffShark the point at which to insert all TRV content. - Click here to view a clipped screenshot of a Publishing Template shown in Microsoft Word.
- Content Blocks
- Content Blocks are Microsoft Word documents that allow blocks of content to be inserted above and/or below the content of every published TRV.
- A Content Block may include symbols, which are placeholders for TariffShark data fields that get replaced with data field values during publishing.

FERC Attachment Publishing
- FERC Attachments may be published if their content is in PDF format and their security level is "Public".
- A separator page may be inserted into the published output before each FERC Attachment.
- A Separator Page Template is a Microsoft Word document that may include symbols, which are placeholders for TariffShark data fields that get replaced with data field values during publishing.
