What is a TariffShark software release?

TariffShark, as a software solution, consists of database, application server, and desktop client components. Though these are often released together, they can be released independently. For example, if a serious bug were to be fixed in the desktop client software, there would be no need to update the database and application server components. When this happens, the version numbers of the individual components become different from each other, which can be confusing. Case in point, in early 2011, the current database version was 8, the application server was v1.1.0, and the desktop client was v1.1.8.

In an effort to simplify communication relating to software releases, all TariffShark releases will be known by a Release number. The "early 2011" example above is known as Release 2.0 (which consisted of DB v8, App Server v1.1.0, and desktop client v1.1.8). Visit the TariffShark Releases page to see a history of all releases.
