Is Word 2013 compatible with TariffShark?
If you are running TariffShark Tiger or Hammerhead Release 4.1 (this is the SP1 release) or later, TariffShark is fully compatibility with Word 2013.
On the other hand, if you are running TariffShark Hammerhead Release 4.0.x (these are the pre-SP1 releases), compatibility with Word 2013 can be accomplished by configuring a single Word setting.
Follow these steps in order to turn this option OFF in Word 2013:
- Make sure there are no running copies of winword.exe.
- Start Word 2013.
- Click the "File" tab and then click "Options".
- In the "General" category of options, uncheck the box mentioned and shown above.
- Close Word.

Effective April 1, 2010, The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) revised its regulations to require that all tariffs and tariff revisions and rate change applications for the public utilities, natural gas pipelines, oil pipelines and power administrations be filed electronically according to a set of standards developed in conjunction with the North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB).
The Commission requires that all tariffs, tariff revisions and rate change applications be filed electronically in the manner prescribed by Order No. 714. The affected required filers are:
- Public utilities and Power Marketing Administrations under Parts 35 and 300;
- Natural gas pipelines under Parts 154 and 284;
- Intrastate gas pipelines under Part 284; and
- Oil pipelines under Part 341.
